There’s no such thing as a Swiggy designer
👉 Every founder and design leader I meet says the same thing about design hiring:
“We want designers, the kind you find at Swiggy, CRED, Razorpay, UrbanCompany, Unacademy, or Groww.”

And yes, these companies are home to some of the best full-stack designers in the market.
But here’s something interesting I once heard from a friend in Swiggy’s design team:
👉 “There’s no such thing as a Swiggy designer. We don’t just hire the top designers. We make them top, we make them Swiggy designers, by giving them the right mentorship, ownership, space, and an environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.”
That really stayed with me. Because it’s not just about hiring the best designers.
It’s about building the kind of culture that attracts and grows the best.
And here’s the truth: you can’t create this culture by simply hiring away top designers from these companies. Even if you do, you won’t retain them without the right culture and environment in place.
It takes time, effort, and care to nurture talent, with culture, leadership, mentorship, trust, and environment that help people grow into their best selves.
That’s what truly creates a “Swiggy designer,” “CRED designer,” “Razorpay designer,” “UrbanCompany designer,” “Unacademy designer,” or “Groww designer.”
