About the role
As Head of Design for PayU Payments and Wibmo, you will set the vision and direction for how design drives business outcomes across the organization. This is a leadership role responsible for shaping end-to-end experiences for merchants, customers, partners, and developers across payments, banking technology, fraud and risk platforms, and value-added services.
You will operate as both a strategic leader and a design champion, building a strong, scalable design organization while embedding user-centric thinking into how products are imagined, built, and delivered.
The role sits at the intersection of experience, technology, and business strategy, with a clear mandate to elevate design as a core capability at PayU.
What you'll do
Define and lead a clear design vision and strategy aligned with PayU and Wibmo’s business goals, growth priorities, and AI-first product roadmap.
Own the quality and consistency of end-to-end experiences across merchant, consumer, partner, and developer journeys.
Champion customer and merchant perspectives at the leadership level, ensuring user needs meaningfully inform product strategy and execution.
Drive product discovery and experience innovation through research, insights, and a strong understanding of market and competitive dynamics.
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Operations, Sales, and Marketing leaders to ensure design is embedded early and effectively in decision- making.
Use data and experience metrics to measure impact, guide prioritization, and continuously improve product outcomes.
Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing design team, fostering a culture of strong craft, collaboration, and ownership.
Establish scalable design practices, systems, and ways of working that enable
teams to move fast without compromising quality.
What we're looking for
12+ years of experience in product design, with significant leadership experience building and scaling design teams.
Strong background in designing complex, large-scale digital products; experience in fintech, payments, banking, or B2B platforms is a plus but not mandatory.
Deep understanding of user-centered design principles across web and mobile, with the ability to balance craft, speed, and business impact.
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and partner effectively across product, engineering, and business leadership.
Experience setting design strategy and translating it into execution across multiple teams and product lines.
A thoughtful people leader who invests in talent development, mentorship, and building strong design culture.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to create clarity and alignment at all levels of the organization.
Why join us?
The team operates at the intersection of user insight, technology, and business strategy. Grounded in research, data, and strong cross-functional collaboration, designers own experiences end-to-end and drive clarity across complex problem spaces.
As PayU moves toward an AI-first future, the design organization is playing a central role in defining the next generation of intelligent, scalable, and trustworthy interfaces that will shape the future of fintech.
