Hardware Product Owner

What can you expect from this role?

You will own the visual design layer for a product that lives at the intersection of physical hardware, embedded software, and a consumer mobile app.

The Posha system includes a cooking robot with a screen-based device interface (for picking recipes, monitoring cooks, and interacting with the bot) and a companion mobile app (for browsing recipes, ordering ingredients, and managing preferences).

This role is for someone who obsesses over visual craft. You will be part of Posha's product team, working closely with software engineering. Your job is to make everything users see and touch look and feel exceptional.

The design surface is uniquely challenging you're designing for a physical appliance with real-time feedback loops, not just another SaaS dashboard. If you've ever wanted your design work to have tangible, visceral impact, this is it.

What will your work responsibilities look like?

  • Visual design language: Own the visual identity across Posha's product surfaces - colour, typography, iconography, spacing, and motion/micro-interactions.

  • Design system - visual layer: Define and maintain the visual skin of Posha's design system- making structured components look and feel polished, cohesive, and delightful.

  • High-fidelity screens and prototypes: Take validated UX flows and wireframes and bring them to life as pixel-perfect, high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes.

  • Exploration and alternatives: Generate multiple visual directions for every significant feature or surface. You will be expected to explore widely before converging.

  • Brand expression in product: Ensure the app and device UI feel like Posha - consistent personality, warmth, and intentionality in every screen.

  • AI-augmented design workflow: Leverage AI tools (Figma AI, Google Stitch) to accelerate ideation, generate visual explorations, and push creative boundaries in rapid prototyping.

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with mobile developers, embedded software engineers, and hardware engineers to ensure designs ship with high fidelity.

  • Design QA -visual fidelity: Review implemented designs, flag pixel-level deviations, and work with engineers to ensure the shipped product matches the intended visual quality bar.

What makes you a great match for Posha?

  • 2-5 years of experience in product design with a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual and UI design craft.

  • A live portfolio or personal website showcasing your work.

  • Demonstrable taste and a keen eye for aesthetics - typography, spacing, colour, micro-interactions. You notice when something is 2px off, and it bothers you.

  • Strong proficiency in Figma (including components, auto-layout, and prototyping).

  • Experience designing for mobile apps (iOS and/or Android) with shipped products.

  • Excellent visual communication skills -you can convey complex ideas through mockups, flows, and annotated designs faster and more clearly than through words.

  • High agency and ownership mindset; you drive design forward without waiting to be told what to do.

  • Comfort with rapid iteration and honest, blunt design critiques.

Great - to - have

  • Experience designing for embedded device screens or hardware interfaces (IoT, consumer electronics, kiosks).

  • Familiarity with AI design tools (Midjourney, Figma AI, Galileo AI, or similar) and a habit of incorporating them into your workflow.

  • Experience building or contributing to a design system from scratch.

  • Basic understanding of front-end constraints (what's easy vs. hard to implement in React Native / Flutter / embedded UI frameworks).

Why you should work at Posha

  • No other organisation offers challenges like ours. Building completely autonomous cooking robots requires thinking from first principles and building from the ground up.

  • Your design decisions will have physical, tangible impact - the screens you design will be on a robot sitting on someone's kitchen counter, used every single day.

  • You will work with a tight-knit, high-calibre team that values speed, craft, and intellectual honesty.

  • This role is at the forefront of a generational opportunity to transform how food is cooked in homes worldwide.

Interview process

Our hiring process is designed to understand your strengths across product thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and craft.

1) Round 1 - Taste Test

We want to understand your visual sensibility. Pick one app interaction or UI element you think is exceptionally well-designed and one thing you'd change - with a high-fidelity mockup of your proposed change. Submit as a short video (5–10 mins) or a 2-page write-up.

2) Round 2 - Head of Product Discussion

A conversation to understand your experience, the projects you've worked on, and a walkthrough of your portfolio.

3) Round 3 - Take Home Design Assignment

A focused design assignment to see how you think through a real problem, explore directions, and bring your visual craft to life.

4) Round 4 - Assignment Discussion

A walkthrough of your submitted assignment - expect questions on your decisions, trade-offs, and thinking process.

5) Round 5 - Culture Fit round with Co-Founder

A conversation to understand who you are beyond your work - your motivations, values, and how you like to operate.
