The Challenge

When Glance first approached us in 2021, the hiring market was still navigating the uncertainty of the pandemic. Teams were adjusting to remote work, and candidates were cautious about change.

At the same time, mobile usage and content consumption were accelerating rapidly. Glance’s lockscreen platform was becoming a high-visibility, consumer-facing product, and the team needed to strengthen its design capabilities to support this growth.

The initial requirement spanned multiple roles - Visual Designers, Product Designers, and a UX Researcher — with an emphasis on strong fundamentals, mobile-first thinking, and the ability to design for scale.

Our Approach

We began with detailed requirement-gathering conversations with the Glance team, with Sudha as our primary point of contact throughout the engagement. These early discussions helped establish clarity around the kind of designers Glance was looking for - designers who could work on consumer-grade products, collaborate closely with product and engineering, and contribute meaningfully in a fast-evolving environment.

As we reached out to our network, it was clear that Glance presented an exciting opportunity for designers. Working on a lockscreen platform meant designing for millions of users, where visual clarity, usability, and performance mattered every day.

Strong coordination with Sudha and the design team ensured that candidates experienced a smooth and transparent process, even during a period when hiring conditions were far from predictable.

Outcome & What Made It Work

Between 2021 and 2022, we supported Glance in hiring across multiple design functions:

• Product Designers: Aman, Nilesh, and Rohan

• UX Researcher: Rini Roy

The partnership continued into 2022–2023, during which we further supported the team by hiring Dilshad and Lavanya for Product Design roles.

For us, this engagement stood out because of the consistency and clarity Glance brought to their hiring over time. What began as a response to immediate product needs evolved into a longer-term collaboration built on trust, alignment, and a shared understanding of what strong design talent looks like at scale.
